First Time For Everything - Family History Research

Below are details of our next event. Please remember you can bring a friend and/or promote to others if you feel that this activity is not for you.

All I do ask is that you please confirm your attendance.

Activity: Family History Research FREE EVENT

Where: Abraham Moss Centre, Main Entrance, C3A Suite, 140 Crescent Road, Crumpsall M8 5UF

When: Tuesday 22nd January 2019 1.00 – 3.00pm

Refreshments, fruit and cake will be provided

This workshop is an introduction to researching your family tree. You may have never done any family history research before, or perhaps made a start but want to get going again.

We will look at:

· Starting out – what sources of information do we have, and where to find them

(e.g. registrations for births, marriages & deaths; the census; parish records; probate records)

· Doing your research – setting your goals, planning and recording what you find

· Next steps – where to go to learn more?

The workshop will be led by Jenifer Burden, a qualified genealogist who has her own website www.lavenderplace.co.uk. Jenifer will help us to explore some of the many free family history resources available online.

If you have a library card please bring this with you as it allows you to access newspapers online, and if you subscribe to any family history websites (e.g. Ancestry, Findmypast, The Genealogist) bring your log in details (username and password) with you. Please note these are absolutely not required for the workshop, as we will be focusing on free resources. However, if you have any of these tools you may wish to use them also.

I look forward to seeing you on the day!
